The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), has donated 150 mosquito nets and 50 blankets to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.

According to the company’s spokesperson, Mr Mohammed Kandi, the gesture is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility toward improving the living condition of its immediate community.

“The gesture is also part of activities to mark the company’s 5th anniversary which was celebrated on the 1st of November, 2018.

“We feel the urgent need to remember the immediate community members who are sick and hospitalized,” Kandi said in a statement on Wednesday in Kano.

Kandi quoted the company’s Chief Revenue Assurance Officer, Abubakar Jimeta, who led the team to the hospital, as saying that the donation became more necessary in view of the harmattan season.

He further quoted Jimeta as saying that malaria was at its peak, hence the need to assist patients on admission, who were the most vulnerable.

“We hope the items will provide succour and curtail the spread of malaria among the beneficiaries in the hospital.

“We are also ready to do more by assisting our host community in every possible way,” Jimeta was further quoted as saying.

Dr Hussaini Mohammed, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, who received the items, applauded the company’s efforts toward improving the living condition of the patients.

He, however, called on the company to improve power supply to the hospital to ensure effective service delivery.
