An aide of Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday totally debunked report claiming that there are plans to clamp down on political associates of the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the outcome of the party’s governorship primaries in the State.

According to the said report published by an obscure online newspaper, it was claimed that the governor was planning to use the police to indiscriminately arrest and incarcerate close associates of Tinubu who spearheaded his defeat at the primaries.

Responding, a source in Governor’s office, who craved anonymity, described the said report as nothing but a vicious lie sponsored by political desperados all in a bid to justify their unpopular moves against the present administration.

He said: “It is very sad and unfortunate that the political hawks are up in arms again with their dumb propaganda to change the narrative when it is crystal clear that the moves against the Governor are very unpopular.

“These agents of perdition also ridiculously claimed in the said report that cult skirmishes are being sponsored to create atmospheres of unrest in order to arrest Tinubu’s associates. This is nothing but absolute gibberish and should be disregarded in its entirety.”

On another claim that the Governor was financing another political party to give Atiku Abubakar edge over President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s presidential election, the aide further said the allegation was merely a figment of the imagination of the authors and another calculated bid to put the Governor on the defensive, adding: “Again, this is another lie from the pit of hell.”

The aide also added that the governor had after the conclusion of the governorship primaries, congratulated the APC Candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and pledged to work with him to ensure a smooth transition of power next year.

“For those who know the Governor, he is a man who keeps to his word. He is a committed APC member anytime any day and regardless of whatever might have happened, he is ready to work to ensure the victory of the party in the 2019 general elections. He cannot renege on his word,” the aide said.
