Obasanjo
Members of the Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Afenifere, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun, over the 2019 polls.
The meeting which started around 3.30 p.m lasted about two hours.
Mr Yinka Odumakin, who addressed newsmen on behalf of the group after the meeting, said the group was in Abeokuta to pay a return visit to Obasanjo.
The former president had recently visited Chief Ayo Adebanjo, one of the leaders of the group, in Lagos.
He said the meeting, which centred around the 2019 polls, was meant to harmonise the position of the Yorubas in Nigeria concerning the 2019 general elections.
“Few weeks back, Obasanjo came to Lagos to visit Pa Ayo Adebanjo and we are here again today to return the visit in order to further strengthen the friendship with the group.
“The meeting also aims at creating an harmonious position in Yorubaland over the leadership of the country in respect of the 2019 general elections.
“The general elections are around the corner and leaders across Nigeria are coming together to discuss the event, which is so crucial to the life of the nation.
“All hands must be on deck to get the country re-established and all grey areas must be ironed out,” he said.
Odumakin described the 2019 presidential race as “exciting” in the light of the candidates, who have emerged from the two major political parties.
He, however, said “the most important thing to the Afenifere group is the issue of restructuring.”
According to him, the group would support any candidate, who prioritises restructuring, because Nigeria could not realise its dream without restructuring.
He said the group would soon adopt its preferred presidential candidate, saying “an official pronouncement would be made on the decision.
” The pendulum is swinging and we will let you know where it finally settles,” he said.
Members of the group, who attended the meeting are a former governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former Minister of State for Defence, Mrs. Dupe Adelaja, Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Hon.Oladipo Olaitan.
Others are former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr Tokunbo Awolowo- Dosunmu, Sen. Femi Okurounmu, Prof.Banjo Akintoye, Mr. Yinka Odumakin and Mr. Supo Sonibare

@JASPER & ilk: Presdient Muhamamdu Buhari, stands out unequal among all present and former Nigerian leaders, who transparent and does not possesses any traces of corruption-dent in his record.
PDP-presdiential candidate,Atiku Abubakar, carried a huge loads of indelible corruption stains right from when Atiku Abubakar, served as chief Olusegun Obasanjo,s vice-president, from 1999 to 2007.
PDP-Atiku Abubakar, names are the USA-FBI wanted-list for bribery and corruption crimes-i.e.Seamen-bribery-scandal and the USA-oil exploration company, that paid bribes meant for Atiku Abubakar, to a former USA-congressman,William Jefferson, so as to enable Atiku Abubakar, influence and win the award of oil-exploration-contract in Nigeria.
Former congressman,William Jefferson, was prosecuted and imprisoned because of same bribery crimes while Atiku Abubakar, absconds till present time hence,Atiku Abubakar,s names remain on FBI wanted list to date.Nigeria, would be worse off with the invigorated culture of endemic corruption if PDP Atiku Abubakar, should by mistake elected in 2019.Nigerians, would be worse-off and slide back into endemic corruption represents by PDP.
Buhari is a dad man, Nigerian make we wake up 4 years no be play
While I appreciate the move by the Afenifere leaders in consolidating their political stance. I believe the survival and development of our nation state is much more important than the interest of one ethnic group. The choice of who becomes president 2019, should be made taking cognizance of where we are, where we ought be and who can effectively and efficiently deliver us to the promiseland: where nepotism, bigotry, theft, ineptitude, ethnic cleansing doesn’t exist. The future of Nigeria is far greater than the ambitions of self serving politicians irrespective of their tribe or religion.
1.Uninterrupted power supply
2.Efficient, free and compulsory primary and secondary education system
3.Robust and efficient rail road system
4.Modern refineries, servicing 100% of our national consumption.
4.Good and robust road network, constructed with world best standards.
5. Revamped and sustainable agricultural sector: improved crop varieties, efficient storage facilities, value chain addition and subsidies, abrogation of land use act of 1979.
6. Unencumbered security of lives and properties of citizens and aliens
7. Industrialization aimed at self sustainance and export; hinged on single digit interest for SMEs.
Obasanjo is a fraud. He is deceiving Afenifere once again. He was president for eight years. He didn’t talk about it.
He supported Tinubu to remove Jonathan who wanted to do it. Tinubu is now rigging all elections in the S/W because he has promised his new master, Buhari. He is doing this because he wants Buhari to hand over to him when he leaves office. He is dreaming out of this world because Buhari can never hand over to him.
APC government under Buhari has not fulfill any of its electoral promises. It promised to bring relief to pensioners, it didn’t where as Jonathan was always listening to the pensioners. Those of us who submitted our BVN just a week late have not been paid the arrears for the period of One to Two years omitted when it was stopped in 2016 and when our names were restored on the payroll in 2018. That is how Buhari government is helping the pensioners. Besides paying the pensioners regularly, the PDP under Jonathan also increased our pension and started paying our arrears before he left.
We Yorubas should not follow Tinubu and his evil people because the news was leaked this morning that he was advising Buhari to use vacant Yoruba land for grazing. Do Yoruba land belong to Tinubu’s father?
Yoruba Ronu. Nobody can take our land from us because we can not also take hausa land or igbo land from them.
Those who eats or want to eat with the DEVIL must have a long spoon
Afenifere better go back to Obasanjo history otherwise it is going to be a very big regret
If Obansanjo is NOW concern about Yoruba please, visit Ibogun where Obasanjo was born and Abalabi where he was raised from infancy till graduated from school and join the military and see for yourself
Afenifebi group of people, God will destroy your counsel!
AfeNigeria group of people. God has destroyed your counsel already.
Meeting that they came out from only to start condemning people. meeting that they came out from and started issuing threats and quoting people against their opinions and facts, Like they came out of that meeting and all of a sudden started tackling Tinubu of the opinion he gave on the herdmans uprising. Any ways, nobody should be surprised for this because after coming out from such a person who they went into the room to have a meeting with what can we expect? My take here is just that the Afenifere should at least for one be fair and respect people’s opinions on issues and instead of all these hate counterattacks, starts contributing to the best of the country’s development, friendship and peace.
How blinder and most superficial can jasper and his co- travelers like comfort D and others be in their moronic comparative analysis? No matter how much you benefit from evil , it remains evil. The proceed of evil in other words is evil. Atiku stole our money and resources like most unconscionable looters so there is no basis whatsoever to compare a very corrupt Atiku to a saintly Buhari who has ever abhor corruption and any form of immorality. The yorubas that are being wooed by Atiku with the issue of restructuring are too politically savvy and abhorrent of corrution to ever fall for his bait. It is only the ibos that may fall for that bait bcos the average iboman treats politics like his business where rush and impatience achieve his required results. Politics is consensus and strategic planning to attain one’s dream over a long period of time with the sportsman spirit. Whereas The ibos fail to learn from Zik ,The yorubas and hausas both hold onto the ideology of Awo and Sardauna as their guide. Anyway as aPDPigs campIgn machinery jasper, comfort D. and their fellow anti patriots have no choice but to sell the failed product called PDP. NO AMOUNT OF POLITICAL SOPHISTRY OF SUBTERFUGE CAN MAKE COMPARISON BETWEEN EVIL ATIKU AND GOOD BUHARI ACCEPTABLE IN A WISE NIGERIA OF TODAY.Remember THE GANG-UP OF RTD.GENS. TO SUPPORT ATIKU IS NOTHING BUT LOOTERS GANG TO PROTECT THEIR LOOTS .SAI BABA THE CATCHER OF LOOTETS.
APC done give money so you fit talk like goat
In all these narratives of 2019 elections, I really pity the Igbo because they don’t have any bearing in Nigerian Politics. I think they are better off in Aba Market, Onitsha Market and Ariala Market. Left alone, the Igbo can’t even govern themselves. We know them for their very poor leadership qualities among themselves!
Who made stupid comments.you have a little brain.
Na goat fit vote Buhari as president
Debate between Atiku and Buhari on a national television will go a long way in deciding the better candidate. In fact, the rest of the presidential party flagbearers should join in the debate. Meanwhile, we, Nigerians, reject in all entirety APC’s flimsy excuse that 4 years isn’t enough for the ruling party to deliver on its 2015 election promises. Change MUST Change. PMB is too old and fragile. Nigeria needs a healthy and educated president. Not someone who failed English and Mathematics. What a NEEDLESS change. What a FAILED ruler.
Comfort D, you are talking of debate, has your father ever debated to become common counselor in his ward? Show me your father’s political credentials and I will show you the internationally acclaimed qualitative and intimidating credentials of PMB! When it becomes obvious you people are no longer given room to loot and steal our commonwealth you complain, disgruntled anti-PMB! You were there, APC secured Ekiti, you were there, APC retained Osun, you were there PMB was unanimously voted to fly the Presidential flag of APC for 2019 Elections, you may be stroked when we will be celebrating PMB’s Victory come 2019. Watch out!
This afenifebi group will never learn lesson after Obasanjo use them afenifere to kill Bola Ige ,took the whole south west except lagos he could not succeed in Lagos cos of Tinubu they are still patronizing the criminal called Obasanjo na only them Waka come
There is no need for closing door. We know they Re useless as far as election is concerned
Well, well, what the aged sit down and see afar, if the young climbs the mountain he can’t see. These are eminent personalities that have tasted it all and have served in various capacities. Their decision is respected.
The politicians use the poor masses to build their empires, the aged creates the paths through which the coming generations will achieve their GOD given live purpose.
Where were they during the election in ekiti and osun? Democracy is a different game all together as we all know that vote counts and it is not abdelegate vote but direct voting. People still think they can direct amd chamge peoppes mind as if in a townhall meeting of his village .
I.bet you these oldmen does not see even things in thier feet. The age we are in now does not require them. Do they even.know functioning of keybord ? Can they reason well when a 419 present jobs ? The younger once knows better these days. The oldmen are learning many things fromyoung once these days. Our choice is not thier choice. We do not want guy man like atiku. Period!
He promises everything and that shows he will fail in everything.
Afenifere cannot, will not and can never determine the victory of any of the candidates. PMB and the good people of Nigeria will massively win the 2018 elections! If they like, let them gang up because of Titi, but God knows PMB is fixing all the problems afenifere and their retired political generals have caused Nigeria through massive looting of our commonwealth and burying same in Ikoyi cemetry. All of them are making noise to be noticed without even paper weight in the political landscape of the Nation. Owambe party is over for life!
Which “2018 elections?” You can’t count numbers! No wonder you too, just as your president, failed simple mathematics.
Comfort D. Of course you should know I meant 2019. All we are saying is that no more room for people like your parents and relatives to steal our money anymore. You have stolen and buried enough, shameless generations of looters, without any hindsight, insight and foresight! No more OWAMBE party!
Jasper, yr stone heart & prejudiced mlnd cannot let u see the realities on ground. Atiku with dollar distribution to every voter will never win S.W. Nigeria bcos Obasonjo knows Atiku will send him back to prison. The Yoruba Parapo meeting in OBJ library is a veiled attempt to bring all Awolowo disciples together under APC govt come 2019 with Obj providing military protection. HausYoruba alliance was is beingconsolidated. Come 2023. Rochas Okorocha will realise the Igbo Presidency dream after realisable re

9] Atiku is Liberal, Buhari is an Ethnic and Religious Bigot.
Atiku Manages People, Buhari Manages Cows.
Buhari has failed woefully in all fronts of governance.
Nigerians should rise up to the occasion and vote out this vindictive and mediocre president.
What a government. What a needless Change Nigerians made in 2015. What a HUGE Mistake. Nonsense
Nigeria Deserves Better. Never again With Buhari, Never. Let’s Atikulate together.
Get your PVC’s and vote Buhari out of office and back to Daura. What a lifeless ruler. Nonsense.
And you are a FOOL!
To be candid Afenifere supposed to be non political group am highly disappointed on their action on present political terrain
See these shameless and useless folks parading themselves as relevant. I hate to hear this divisive group called Afenifere. To me, the group is Afenifebi. Instead of spending their last decade on earth to advocate the unity and oneness of Nigeria, they are busy championing disunity. As for me, Nigeria will be greater and better without Afenifere, the failure folks. Anyway, I see some of them in prison by year 2020
It is lik, this old men has forgotten that without National Assembly approval of restructuring, there is nothing President can do.GEJ has opportunity of outright usage of the then National Assembly and 2/3 of 36 states before it could be turnvto Law. Atiku promising restructuring seems it does not know the workability of how it could become law. President cannot single handed approved restructuring
With regard to the 2019 election, the people in that meeting have a total electoral value of five votes. These people are no more consequential to the outcome of the coming election in the SW than they were in 2015. Next news item, please.
So obasanjo is supporting restructuring? Which problem? PMB has no problem winning SW. Atiku cannot win SW. Tinubu will always win SW . Where these oldmen during ekiti and osun election? They are not influencial . Apc has taken over the whole SW states and you think governors will not deliver thier states? The structure does not favour atiku.
THIS IS SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR PMB. ATIKU IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN MEET THIS REQUIREMENT. INTERESTING….
But is Atiku sincere about restructuring?
He is a deciet. He cannot restructure and for that reason he will see red from north. I can bet you.
