Kaduna Council of Imams/Ulama elects new chairman

The Council of Imams and Ulama in Kaduna state on Thursday elected Sheik Ibrahim Nakaka, as its new chairman following the demise of its former chairman, Sheik Usman Baban-Tine.

This was made known in a statement by the council’s Secretary-General, Malam-Yusuf Yakubu, in Kaduna.

Yakubu also stated that the council which used to have two vice chairmen had made an addition of a third vice chairman.

“Dr Muhammad Aliyu, the Chief Imam of Zaria Lowcost Mosque is now the 1st Vice Chairman, while Sheik Muhammad Hassan, the Chief Imam of Yahaya Road mosque becomes the 2nd Vice Chairman.

“And Mallam Muhammad-Kabir Qasim, the acting Chief Imam of Kafanchan now becomes the 3rd Vice Chairman.”

He urged members of the council to be steadfast and join hands to work for the progress of Islam and Nigeria.

Nakaka’s predecessor died on Sept. 10 after a brief illness at A.B.U teaching Hospital Shika, Zaria.
