The Inspector-General of Police Committee on the reformation of the special anti-robbery squad southwest zone, on Monday visited the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Command Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The committee was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Adepoju Ilori. Also on the entourage was an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Sogunle.

Speaking on the visit, Adepoju said: “The Inspector General of Police (IGP) constituted a committee to embark on a nationwide tour of inspection of SARS detention facilities with the immediate effect.

“We started by visiting Lagos commands, now we are in Ogun State and we are visiting all the FSARS commands in Southwest”.

Adepoju told newsmen that the committee was constituted to decongest the FSARs facilities and look into their activities.

”We are soliciting the support of the media, the civil liberty organisation of Nigeria, human rights organizations and the entire members of the public to report all their observations to the state Commissioner of Police, because we can not do it alone,” Adepoju stated.

”Soon, you are going to see positively transformed FSARS operatives performing their specific roles of checking armed robbery and kidnapping,” he added.
