Flood: Adamawa residents advised against building on water ways

Adamawa Gov. Mohammed Bindow on Friday advised residents in the state to stop building houses on water ways to avert flood.

The governor gave the advice when he paid unscheduled visit to Yolde Pate community in Yola South Local Government Area of the state which was recently submerged by flood.

He also urged the people to stop dumping refuse indiscriminately.

Bindow, who was on assessment tour of the area, however, promised the victims that of his administration’s support to the victims, to cushion the effect of the disaster.

He, therefore, directed the State Emergency Management Agency and SEMA to come to the aid of the victims.

Mr Aminu Jada, one of the victims, commended the governor for his concern for the plight of the victims.

Jada said that the quick response of the government would go a long way in alleviating the plight of the victims.

The flood pulled down many houses.
