The Association of Christian Schools in Nigeria has expressed its disgust over what it described as the persistent killing of people in some states of the federation.

In a communique issued on Wednesday after a meeting of the body in Jos, the group lamented that killing of innocent Nigerians had persisted in Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, and communities in Southern Kaduna.

The communique was signed by the National President of the association, Mrs. Ekaete Ettang.

The group also expressed concern over the increasing spate of out-of-school children, caused by the killings, noting that the development had posed a serious threat to Nigeria’s future.

“So, we want to call on the federal and State Governments to urgently fashion out modalities to end the attacks so that our children can comfortably go back to school.”

It also warned the government to avoid making any particular religious subject mandatory in schools.

The association, similarly, told government to repeat the 2018 universal basic education personnel audit to capture those who were omitted during an earlier exercise.
