There was drama at 13 Olusola Ikare,off Liasu Road,Council Bus/stop,area of Alimosho local government, area of Lagos State when an angry mob strip naked a cart pusher identified as Safiu Tatai , 20, who was alleged to have stolen a generating set.
The suspected thief was later identified by one of his colleagues who called their leader on phone to inform him of what happened.
The suspect was however lucky as the timely arrival of policemen from Idimu and OP Messa, Lagos State saved him from being set ablaze.
Earlier, a tenant at 13, Olusla Ikare, who identified himself as Iyanuloluwa Kolade, narrated the incident thus: “He came into the compound this morning with the cart parked outside the gate. On sighting the generator where it was kept, he went straight to where it was kept and carried it.
”I stood there watching him. He covered it with sacks and torn cloths inside the cart. As he was about to go, I called him back but he refused to answer me. Then, I started shouting Ole, Ole, Ole (thief) to attract neighbors’ attention.
”He fled but was stopped by a passerby who heard me shouting. Later, others came and we searched the cart and brought out the stolen generator.
” His pocket was searched and a phone and N1000 note was recovered from him.
He was about to be set ablaze when policemen from Idimu station arrived and took him away.”
