Mr Joshua Madaki, the new Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly has called on his colleagues to support his leadership in order to succeed.

Madaki, who was the Chief Whip of the Assembly before his new office, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos.

The Assembly on Wednesday impeached the erstwhile speaker, Mr Peter Azi, who steered the affairs of House for over three years with 17 out of the 24 members of the House signing the impeachment notice.

Madaki, who commend his colleagues for confidence reposed on him, assured them of a robust Assembly that would be the envy of all.

“I really want to thank my colleagues for finding me worthy of this exalted office.

“However, I want to call on them to cooperate and support me to succeed.

“I want to assure my colleagues and indeed, Plateau people that under my leadership, this Assembly will witness proactive legislative activism.
“It will endear Plateau to envy of the 36 states of the federation,” he assured.

The speaker also urged his colleagues to remain focused and resolute in discharging their legislative functions.

He also commended Azi for steering the affairs of the Assembly over the years and urged him to support the new leadership.
