The Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA has warned residents that the government will no longer tolerate illegal development across the state without obtaining due permit.

LASBCA General Manager, GM, Engr. Lekan Shodeinde gave this warning during sensitization exercise on the need to obtain permit before erecting structures, held in Ajah area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

According to Shodeinde, the sensitization exercise was being carried out in order to stem the tide of building collapse in Lagos, especially during this raining season.

The LASBCA GM, who was represented by the Head of Department, Building Administration and Public Enlightenment, Mrs. Victoria Taiwo-Ajose, said government’s zero tolerance to building collapse was still in force.

He said it is a must for residents to obtain their building permits and submit their drawings before embarking on building.

“If you don’t build right, there is penalty. Many people don’t always use good building materials for their buildings. Use qualified builders for your buildings and don’t make use of quacks,” he said.
