Drug Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), says it will partner with Abuja Bus Terminal (ABT) in the campaign against illicit drug consumptions among commercial drivers in the FCT.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Mr Peter Adegbe disclosed this on Friday in Abuja.

According to him, the partnership has become necessary as a result of an earlier call made on the NDLEA by officials of the Bus Terminal Operators on May 15.

The Terminal Operating Manager, Mr Isyaka Babanagode had stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between NDLEA and FCT Administration in order to ensure the desired result in the fight against drug abuse.

The management of the bus terminal operators had embarked on occasional sensitisation programmes on the menace of drug abuse in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Command in Nyanya, Abuja.

According to Adegbe, I will be there to discuss with the management of the park to ensure the campaign comes up quickly.

“Once they are ready, the NDLEA are ready as well.

“Part of our mandate is to ensure that the territory is free of drug peddlers.’’

Adegbe expressed optimism that the partnership would yield positive results.
