Lagos increases housing subvention for Civil Servants to N100m

Lagos State Government on Tuesday said it has increased the budgetary provision for housing loans for its staff from N50 million to N100 million to improve the welfare of its workers.

Head of Service, HoS, Folasade Adesoye disclosed this at a ministerial press conference in Alausa, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, saying that the Staff Housing Board had so far disbursed loans to about 280 public servants from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, amounting to N95, 033, 564.

“I am extremely delighted to inform you that the budgetary provision for Housing loan has increased from fifty million to One hundred million Naira, laying credence to government’s commitment to staff welfare,” he said.

Adesoye pointed out that there were 40 buses currently in the fleet of the centralized staff buses.

“However, owing to the increasing number of staff and the opening up of new residential areas, there is a conspicuous deficit in the number of buses. However, His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has promised to re-fleet the scheme with state-of-the art buses,” she said.

Adesoye added that the welfare of the staff bus driver were being improved with regular medical check-ups and exposure to good healthcare facilities.

“In a bid to develop a world class public service where staff have the right attitude, government has initiated issuance of Letters of Commendation to officer identified to have consistently met or exceeded agreed set targets and exhibited exceptional work ethics and diligence in the discharge of their duties,’’ she said.

Adesoye noted that governance in Lagos has been characterised by promises fulfilled, anchored through vibrant and purposeful public service.
