Healthcare: Yobe approves 100% CONMESS

Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe has approved 100 percent implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals in the state.

Gaidam also approved a similar Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) package for medical personnel on the state’s payroll.

The Director-General, Press Affairs to the governor, Mr Abdullahi Bego, announced this in a statement issued on Monday in Damaturu.

Bego said the approval was showed an increase from 70 percent to 100 percent.

“The governor has also approved 100 percent implementation of the revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for medical officers.

“A submission on the salaries of administrative staff of the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH) was also approved by the governor.

“The total monetary implication of the approvals, which is the differential on the existing salaries being enjoyed by the three groups of beneficiaries, is N74,335,339.2 per month,’’ he said.

The statement said the Yobe government has now “brought the remuneration package in the state’s health sector at par with what obtains in federal government health institutions”.

Medical workers in the state put on hold the JOHESU strike action as negotiation was going on with the state government.

Mr AbdulAzeez Aminu, the state Chairman, National Association of Nurses and Midwives (NANM) had earlier said that they will only join the strike if the negotiation failed.
