MCSN visits Lagos Ministry of Tourism

The Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MSCN) made a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

“We have come to share the joy of our victories with the esteemed Commissioner after over 10 years of unwarranted persecution,” said Orits Wiliki, Chairman of MCSN.

One of the major victories of MCSN is the court victory against Multichoice Nigeria, among others.

The Director General, Mr. Mayowa Ayilaran affirmed that we are in an era where creators in this country can enjoy the fruits of their creativity.

Mr. Ayilaran further stressed that “MCSN was recently re-positioned, strategically, as a Brand to focus on connecting creativity with prosperity so that creators of works are duly regarded and rewarded for the intellectual property.

The honourable commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, while responding, said that Lagos State will be interested in supporting the creative inductry as evident in the policies and activities of the State.

He further hinted that they are open to partnering with MCSN to promote arts, culture and the entertainment industry.

He advised that MCSN team should introduce a platform through which creative can collaborate with Lagos State.

He mentioned further, that many artistes are not aware that the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) is open to them, and that they can take advantage of the opportunity to boost employment and the industry.

The delegates from MSCN include Mr. Orits Wiliki, Mr. Mayowa Ayilaran, Mr. Joshua Akinbanjo, Mr. Loius Udoh, Mr. Halim Mohammed amongst others.
