Micro Finance Bank Drags Manager To Court For Stealing N2.4m

A Manager with the Alaba, Ojo, branch of Addosser Micro Finance Bank, Lagos, Habib Ajeigbe, 38, has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N2,455,500 belonging to his employer.

A Police source alleged that the arrest of the accused was ordered by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Lion Building Division, Lagos Island following a complaint by the Management of Addosser Micro Finance Bank Plc.

After investigation by Sgt Gboyega Oyeniyi and his team, Ajeigbe was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a one count charge of felony to wit, stealing.

Police Counsel, Oladejo Balogun informed the Court in charge No I/21/2018 that the accused committed the offence in September, 2017 and 3 April, 2018 at the Alaba branch of Addosser Micro Finance Bank, Lagos.

Balogun told the Court that the accused betrayed the trust reposed in him by his employer as a loan repayment collection manager as he collected the sum of N2,455,500 from the customers of the bank and converted the money to his use instead of remitting the money into his employer’s account.

He said the offence the accused committed is contrary to section 280(1)(b) and punishable under section 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate K.O Ogundare granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogundare adjourned the case till 2 May, 2018 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Prison till he fulfilled the bail conditions.
