Rep. Umar Bago (APC- Niger) says 1,500 indigent students in his constituency have received his financial support to seat for UTME and General Certificate Examination (GCE).

Bago disclosed this to the newmen in Minna on Thursday.

He explained that the gesture was a demonstration of his commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement of his constituents.

“I am a proponent of free education and I was a beneficiary of that. The best I can offer was to introduce incentives that will assist in providing free and quality education to our future generation.

“ I am paying stipends per term to all indigent students in various high institutions across the country.

He said consistent investment in youth education would bring positive change to his constituency in particular and the country in general.

He advised the beneficiaries to study hard and uplift themselves from the shackles of poverty, saying they should make good use of the opportunity available to them now.

The lawmaker further advised the youth in the Chanchaga Federal Constituency to resist the temptation to indulge in any form of political thuggery and electoral violence as the 2019 general elections were fast approaching.
