Rivers State Government is to employ a total of 3,000 men and women to be in the taskforce to clear illegal traders and sweep the streets of Port Harcourt and its environs.

Although the the state government has not spelt out the guidelines for the recruitment of the men and women for intended jobs, it is however noteworthy that it extended a one week grace to illegal street traders to vacate the roads and unauthorised.

The decision to extend the deadline for seven more days was as a result of passionate appeals by stakeholders and well meaning Nigerians living and doing business in the state.
