China Eastern Airlines would consider buying Shanghai crude futures

China Eastern Airlines Corp Ltd on Wednesday said would consider buying China’s crude futures when the appropriate time and opportunity arises.

The corps Chief Financial Officer, Wu Yongliang, disclosed this at a press conference in Hong Kong to discuss the airline’s 2017 results.

Yuan-denominated oil futures were launched last month, becoming China’s first commodity derivative open to foreign investors.

They are also the culmination of a decade-long push by the Shanghai Futures Exchange to give the world’s largest energy consumer more power in pricing crude sold to Asia.
