The Moole Charity Foundation, an NGO, says it would offer free medical screening and testing to 5, 000 people in Lagos, Kaduna and Federal Capital Territory.
Dr Ogungbemi Olalekan, a public health physician and Founder of the organization, disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.
Olalekan said the Foundation would conduct free medical screening for 5, 000 people on five killer diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Hypertension and diabetes.
He said the aim of the project was to screen people in order to identify these diseases at the early stage and prevent them before complications arise.
The theme of the Project “Silent Killers ” comes up on Monday, April 2, to conduct free testing and screening for 5, 000 people across two states and FCT.
“The Testing and screening will take place at Eagle Square and Maitama Amusement Park in Abuja, and will also be conducted in Lagos and Kaduna States,” he said.
Olalekan said the Foundation would provide 50 doctors, 40 nurses, 22 laboratory scientists and 60 other health personnel for the exercise.
He expressed concern over the high rate of mortality recorded from these silent killer diseases as a result of complications.
According to him, screening and testing is the way forward to halt the spread and complications that could arise from these diseases.

He noted that most people were not aware of their health status; thereby putting themselves at high risk of complications.
“We will screen and educate them on the dangers of these diseases and their related complications.
“The screening will provide the patients with knowledge of their health status thereby preventing them from dying of related complications.
“We believe that information is power, so if these people know early enough that they have these diseases, they can manage it and live a better life,” he said.
Olalekan said that the foundation decided to mark project silent killers on public holiday to achieve its target by screening a large numbers of people.
