Mr Garba Yusuf, Niger State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said the command would deploy 647 personnel with 25 patrol vehicles for traffic control during the Easter holiday.

Yusuf disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.

He said that special patrol operations would focus on speeding, overloading, wrong overtaking, Tyre violation and the use of cell phone while on the wheel.

The commander explained that both regular and special marshals would be deployed to oversee traffic activities on federal highways, especially along the Minna-Suleja, Minna-Kontagora, Jebba-Mokwa-Tegina and Suleja-Kaduna federal highways.

“We have already embarked on 24hours Rescue Operations throughout the duration of the Special Patrol,’’ he said.

He appealed to motoring public and other road users to obey traffic rules and regulations to have a zero road traffic crash during and after the celebration.

Yusuf said this would be possible if motorists adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations in order to stay alive.

The commander warned motorists against overloading and dangerous driving as the personnel would be highly visible across the state throughout the Easter holiday, particularly on all federal highways.
