Jama’atu Ibadat Wazikirullahi (JIZAN), a congress of prayer warriors, has advised Nigerians and the government to focus more attention on prayers to find lasting solutions to security challenges in the country.

The Ameer of JIZAN, Sheikh Hassan Mohammed, gave the advice at Special Prayer Session for the nation organised by the group on Sunday in Mararaba, Karu Local Government, Nasarawa State.

Mohammed said that there was no type of societal challenges that could not be addressed by consistent prayers, adding that prayers had helped to address so many problems that bedevilled mankind in the society.

He said that right from the beginning of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in some part of the country, government at all levels had spent huge resources in procuring arms and providing logistics support to the security agencies but committed little resources in organising special prayer session for enhancing peace in the country.

Mohamed, therefore, admonished the Government at all levels to identify with prayers warriors and engagement them to embark on special prayers for lasting peace and tranquillity in the country.

According to him, it is the power of prayers that helped the country to overcome the Nigerian Civil War, which lasted for 30 months and prayer can still be used to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.

“I humbly wish to advise the Federal Government, in addition to the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, to embrace prayers as a solution to the current security problems facing the country.

“Prayer has proven to be very powerful and effective in addressing societal malady, which other approaches cannot solve,” he said.

The cleric also appealed to the three tiers of government to involve religious leaders in policy formulation and execution, especially security issues.

He explained that the role of religious leaders in addressing security challenges through prayers could not be overemphasised.

He pledged the commitment of the organisation to create an enduring Islamic environment devoid of terrorism and other social vices capable of disrupting the peaceful coexistence in the country.

He also expressed the readiness of the organisation to reach out to the less privileged in the society such as Almajiris, Orphans, widows, inmates and persons living with disabilities in respective of their religion.

The Spiritual Leader of Dariqatur Tijjaniya Movement in Afulfilheikh Abubakar Shu’aibu urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), which emphasised on love, tolerance and good neighborhood.

Shu’aibu advised Muslims to avoid promising what they could not fulfill, adding that Islam prohibited betrayal and deceitful.

“I admonish Muslims to follow the steps and teaching of Prophet Muhammad to ensure that they leave in peace and harmony with members of other faiths, ” he said.

Jama’atu Ibadat Wazikirullahi (JIZAN), is an Islamic NGO, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), to champion the cause of unity and promote peace initiative as a means to realise a societal harmony and an ideal nation.
