Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC) says that mass participation in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was imperative in determining the country’s future leadership.

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, National Coordinator of the group told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that possessing the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) was empowered one to contribute to determining the future leadership.

Nnam said that the only way to participate in the political process of Nigeria was to enlist in the voters register.

“We are urging all Nigerians to go for their PVC to qualify them to take decisions on who governs them.

“Ignorance as you know is the major reason for political apathy, that is why we are carrying out awareness march,” he said.

Ihezie said that ILDC would continue to champion awareness campaigns aimed at redressing the ignorance of the masses on voters education.

Miss Imaobong Cletus, a member of the group charged Nigerians to realise their citizenship responsibility, saying that it was time for the masses to know that power belonged to them.

Cletus, who described the masses as the major stakeholders in the political process, said that quality leadership was non negotiable.

The Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) is ongoing for Nigerians that just turned 18 or could not register in the last exercise.
