Gov. Aminu Masari on Monday inaugurated a 10-man high powered investment board, as part of efforts to improve economy of the state.

Masari charged the board members to use their wealth of experience to attract more investment opportunities to the state.

According to him, the state government has concluded plans to organise an investment summit as part of its commitment to diversify all sectors of the state’s economy.

“We are ready to make the state investor-friendlyby providing free lands and other incentives for the establishment of companies.’’

He said that the state was happy to be tagged by Federal Government Investment Commission as the easiest state to do business in the country.

According to him, Katsina State has reviewed its laws to make investment in the state very easy by removing the bottlenecks and protocols that frustrate investors.

The Executive Secretary of the Federal Government Investment Commission, Dr Yewande Sadique, commended the state government for providing enabling environment for investors in the state.

“Katsina State Government is making the commission’s work easy by making all the necessary investment laws flexible,” Sadique said.

In her remarks, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Investment, said that Katsina State had been rated as one of the best states for establishment of business ventures.

Oduwole, represented by Alhaji Salisu Liadi, said that the president had mandated the Commission to take measures to move Nigeria forward by attracting investors to the country.

She said that the organisation would partner with Katsina Government in the area of providing job opportunities to thousands of jobless youths.

Responding, the Chairman of the board, Dr Tanimu Kurfi, pledged the commitment of members to move the state to highest level of economic investment.

Kurfi, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Late President Umaru Yar’Adua, assured that the committee members would use their wealth of experience to catapult Katsina to greater height.

Malam Yakubu Umar will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Commissioners for Finance, Commence, Agriculture, Justice, Resource Development, Lands, Special Adviser on investment will serve as members.

Also, one representative of the Katsina Emirate Council will serve as member of the board.
