KASU matriculates 3,606 students for 2017/2018 session

The Kaduna State University (KASU) on Tuesday matriculated 3,606 students for 2017/2018 academic session.

Prof. Muhammad Tanko, Vice Chancellor of the university, said at the event that the institution was matriculating its 13th set of undergraduates and 4th set of postgraduate students since inception.

He implored the new students to be receptive to good things and despise bad things in order to have a meaningful and successful stay in the university.

Tanko added that bad practices like cultism, examination misconduct, drugs and indecent dressing would not be tolerated.

“I implore you to avoid examination malpractice, avoid drugs, say no to cultism and embrace the university dress code”, he said.

According to the vice chancellor, the university only admits students based on merit.

“It is pertinent to state that those of you matriculating today earned your admissions on merit, considering the strict admission process. Therefore, you have to make maximum use of the chance given to you’’, he said.

Tanko added: “Academic excellent and high moral discipline should be your watch words.

“Each of you should aspire to have distinction in your courses, learn as many new things as possible, make new friends and be nice to everyone.”

Fatima Isyaku, one of the matriculating students expressed delight over the ceremony and promised to work hard in order to graduate successfully.

“ I am so happy for securing admission into KASU and I will try my very best to be among the top in my department”, she said.

Samuel Audu, also one the new students reading Industrial Chemistry, said he was ready to work hard and socialise with other people that came from background different from his.
