Eko Club Endorses Ambode For Second Term

A foremost social club in Lagos State, Eko Club has endorsed the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term in office, citing massive infrastructural renewal across the length and breath of the State and exponential economic growth.

Speaking at a special three-in-one programme to celebrate new year thanksgiving, valentine’s day and initiation of new members, President of the Club, Chief Tunde Fanimokun said the decision to back the Governor for a re-election was in line with the need to allow a continuation of the ongoing transformation in all the sectors and sections of the State.

Fanimokun said the governor, being a member of the club, had made the club proud with his brilliant performance and outstanding achievements in office so far, and urged the people to continue to support him to achieve more for the State.

“As a member of our club and our supporter, we are indeed proud of the achievements of Governor Ambode in office. Eko Club was basically established for the progress of the State and our people.

“Our members have been at the forefront of growth and development of the State in all spheres of life and it is gratifying that the Governor is working hard to transform the State. It is on the strength of this that we are supporting him all the way for a second term in office,” Fanimokun said.

Speaking on the celebration, Fanimokun said since his assumption of office as President of the Club on February 10, 2017, the thanksgiving service was basically to appreciate God and members for the opportunity given to him to serve them, while the valentine festivity was to stress the significance of love and unity among members.

Addressing new members of the club who were equally initiated during the celebration, Fanimokun urged them to be good ambassadors of the club by adhering to rules and regulations governing their membership, and as well key into the vision to contribute to the growth and development of the State.

Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion, Engr Layi Ajayi-Bembe commended members of Eko Club for upholding the dream of the founding fathers of the club and keeping the vision alive for a prosperous State.

Ajayi-Bembe, who is a former President of the Association of Lagos State Indigenes (ALSI), also urged the new members to see their membership as a call to service and a task which must be carried out faithfully.

One of the 47 new members, Mr Olu Coker who spoke on behalf of others, said it was a thing of joy to be considered to be members of Eko Club which he described as one of the prominent clubs in the State.

“Eko Club is basically associated with Lagos State and the founding fathers of the club are Lagosians who have played significant roles and still doing same in the development of the State.

“Apart from being a social club and a place of relaxation for people to relate with each other, the club is also playing significant role in the development of Lagos and we consider it as a rare privilege to belong to this club,” Coker said, just as he assured that they would contribute positively not just to the growth of the club but also Lagos State in general.
