The Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Central Business Districts, CBD, Mr. Anofi Elegushi has said that the Lagos State Government is committed to a clean, safe and business friendly CBD comparable to its counterpart all over the world.

The Special Adviser stated this during the supervision of evacuation of refuses from streets and walkways on the Lagos Island Business District.

Mr. Elegushi said that with the present transformation programme and infrastructural developments currently going on within the Lagos Island Central Business District, the face of the District will not be the same again after the present administration led by Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

He disclosed that the present administration is keen on developing the Lagos Central Business Districts to an enviable level much better than its present state. “The CBD is the financial economic hub of not only the state but also the nation. Billions of naira exchange hands daily in this locations and the influx of people from other states of the nation and indeed other parts of the continent and even international reveals the importance and strategic relevance of the CBD”.

The Special Adviser said further “Currently, the Lagos Island Central Business District is undergoing pressures for development due to the large number of people coming into the district which overstretch available facilities. There is the need therefore for stakeholders within the district to cooperate with Government to manage available facilities, ensure a clean, safe and vibrant environment and also build up a commitment for sustainable partnership and co-operation among stakeholders”.

While urging corporate organizations, business owners and residents within the district to cooperate with the Lagos State Government in proper disposal of refuse and waste, the Special Adviser noted that the current efforts of the present administration to make the environment cleaner and safer necessitated the new cleaner Lagos initiative driven by the Visionscape project.

He said that the Lagos State Government is committed to a safe and clean environment knowing fully well that dirty and unhealthy environment would lead to economic loss.

The Special Adviser said “Furthermore, health is wealth. The State Government has initiated several Programmes on clean environment geared towards ensuring that the business environment is not only attractive but also conducive for the people. The Lagos State Central Business Districts is a very large and expanding one, therefore there is need for partnership from Corporate Organizations and private business owners on the development of the zone”. “Government is committed to so many areas of governance and this translates to the fact that 100% success rate cannot be achieved in any particular area without input, support and cooperation of non governmental organizations.” He added.

The Special Adviser said the transformation programmes of this present administration will make Lagos Island CBD the envy of other CBD across the world.
