The Police Command in Jigawa says it has organised a Stakeholders’ meeting to curtail Farmers/Fulani clashes in the state.

The command’s Spokesman, SP Abdu Jinjiri, disclosed this in a statement in Dutse on Monday.

Jinjiri said the meeting that was scheduled to hold on Jan. 31 in Kirikasamma Local Government Area was organised in collaboration with eight local government councils under the Hadejia Emirate.

He said that the forum was meant for the relevant stakeholders to deliberate extensively on the causes of the crisis and find a lasting solution to it.

“The Police Command in Jigawa under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Senchi, in collaboration with local governments under Hadejia Emirate Council, is organising an interactive meeting on Jan. 31 at Kirikasamma Local Government Secretariat.

“This is in its bid to reduce to the barest minimum the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

“The meeting is meant for the relevant stakeholders to deliberate extensively on the causes of the crisis and find lasting solutions to it,’’ he said.

The spokesman said that the command, had in conjunction with Chairmen of Auyo, Birniwa, Guri, Hadejia, KafinHausa, Kirikasamma, Kaugama and Malammadori local governments, urged all stakeholders in their areas to attend the meeting scheduled for 11 a.m.
