Iraqi authorities have estimated that the cost of the damage from the war against the Islamic State terrorist group amounts to 100 billion dollars and hope to rebuild the country’s damaged areas over the course of 10 years.

The Iraqi government’s spokesman Saad Hadithi said in an interview with Sputnik Thursday: “the loss … was estimated at 100 billion dollars, this is the amount with which the government expects to work for 10 years within the framework of the adopted document for gradual restoration of these [damaged] areas.”

Hadithi said the authorities will be restoring government buildings, infrastructure, the services sector and public buildings in the country.
