The Zamfara State House of Assembly has called on the State Government to construct a 75 kilometre road to link up communities in Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of the state.

This followed a motion by Alhaji Manir Gidan-JaJa (APC, Zurmi-North) during the house plenary in Gusau on Wednesday.

Gidan-Jaja said the call became necessary following challenges faced by the people of the area due to lack of access roads which had negatively affected socio-economic activities in areas.

He expressed optimism that the roads if constructed, would ease challenges faced by the people of the area as well as boost its agriculture and economic activities.

This, he said, was especially so as it would enable farmers have good access road to markets.

According to him, the road will link villages in Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas like Mayasa, Birane, Tungar Fulani, Tubali and Mashema and will terminate at Shinkafi town.

The lawmaker therefore, urged other members of the assembly to support the motion considering its importance to the lives of the people of the state, especially rural dwellers.

He called on the State Government to expedite action on the road because of its importance to the improvement of socio-economic activities of the people.

The assembly had meanwhile, approved a 30 days annual leave for the State Governor, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari with effect from Dec. 20 to Jan. 20, 2018.
