German police on Friday said that three men who were killed in a plane crash in south Germany on Thursday were identified as two Austrians, aged 45 and 49, and one German, aged 79.

The youngest man was apparently the pilot of the Cessna plane, which crashed into a forest in Ravensburg, in the southern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

A police spokesman said that the cause was still unclear but confirmed that investigators were looking into the potential role of extreme winter conditions.

The plane had been en route from Frankfurt-Egelsbach airfield, south of Frankfurt, to Friedrichshafen.

The police had confirmed on Thursday that three people were on board the business jet when it crashed.

A similar incident also happened on March 27 whereby the co-pilot responsible for a Germanwings Flight 9525 as at Dec. 5, saying that prosecutors are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The plane crashed in the French Alps and killed 150 people on board.
