The All Progressive Congress (APC), Germany Chapter has condemned in strong term the dastardly treatment being meted out to black African traveling through Libya to Europe.

The APC said it was very unfortunate that the perverts in Libya had resorted to long abolished slave trade in the twenty first century, saying not only were those held captive sold into slavery, but that they had also been maimed and “killed these people that are looking for a way out of their supposed economic misery.”

A statement issued by Lalekan Ogunwede, National Chairman, APC Germany Chapter and Olusegun Ogunremi, Acting National Secretary, APC Germany Chapter said  “we laud the effort of government at the evacuation of stranded Nigerians so far. We implore them to do more at expediting the crisis situation so that we can avert more lives being lost.

“The government can do that by having stronger bi-lateral agreement with the Libyan Government. Those that have perpetrated this act of inhumanity against fellow Africans should be arrested and prosecuted for crime against humanity.

“In the spirit of solidarity with our brothers and sisters; let us remind our people in Nigeria and other African countries with such intention of irregular migration to take a second look at it.

“The gains attached to such migration is a risk not worth taking; it is not greener on the other side of the divide too. If there is any reason to migrate; please endeavour to do it within the confines of legal means.”
