Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday called on nations to ensure that digital space is not in any way allowed to be used for terrorism.

“Nations must take responsibility to ensure the digital space does not become playground for terrorism and radicalization,” Modi said, while addressing the Global Conference on Cyber Space in the national capital.

The prime minister, who inaugurated the two-day event, also said the cyber space has transformed the world over past few decades and it was followed by the advent of social media.

“Today, digital technology has emerged as a great enabler.

“It has paved the way for efficient service delivery and governance.

“It is improving access, in domains from education to health,” he said, while speaking about the benefits India reaped from cyber revolution.

The global conference is being attended by representatives from 124 countries and 33 ministerial delegates from 31 countries.

For the first time, the event is being held in India.
