Incumbent governor of Anambra state and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Willie Obiano, has taken an early lead in the results of the governorship election released so far.

The state collation of the results is ongoing at the state office of the Independent​ National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As at the time of filing this report, results from six of the 21 local government areas have been released.

They are: Njikoka, Ndulukofia, Awka south, Ayamelu, Aniocha and Orumba.

Obiano of APGA polled 78,431 votes, while Mr. Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 33,456 votes, and Oseloka Henry Obaze of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), scored 21, 650 votes.
