The Anambra Government in partnership with World Bank is spending about N1.2 billion to reactivate the Obizi Water Scheme, Uga in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
Gov. Willie Obiano made the disclosure at Ekwulobia Township Stadium on Tuesday when he inaugurated his reelection campaign in Aguata.
Obiano, who said that the water project was the biggest in the state, explained that when completed, it would provide water to 45 communities in Aguata and its environs.
The governor announced that his administration was upgrading the power transmission substation at Nibo from 30 Mega Volt Amp (MVA) to 60 MVA to serve the Aguata area.
He solicited the support of party faithfuls and people of the area and assured them of better dividends in his second term.
In a remark, the Chairman of Obiano Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh, commended the people for supporting and believing in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Umeh assured that the party would fulfill its campaign promises to the people.
In their separate remarks, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and a political stalwart in the area, Chief Oliver Asiegbu, pledged their support to the re-election of Obiano.
Soludo urged electorate in the area to vote en mass for APGA and protect their votes during the election.
Earlier in a welcome speech, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council Area, Mr Eche Ezeibe, enumerated Obiano’s achievements in the area including rehabilitation of roads and health facilities.
Ezeibe reminded party supporters that re-electing Obiano would ensure a successor from Anambra South Senatorial District where they belong.
