Crack detectives attached to the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, FSARS, at Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos have arrested three suspects in a hotel in Olorunsogo area of Ibadan, Oyo State and recovered about N5m worth of goods they allegedly diverted instead of delivering the goods to the owner in Benue State, North Central Nigeria.

The feat, according to a police source was made possible by a team led by DSP Olaniyi Festus in charge of Strike Unit One at the FSARS, Lagos.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Taiwo Salami aka Ijoba, Olamide Adedeji and Coker Olarewaju.

The police alleged that trouble started for the suspects when the complainant identified simply as Sunday contacted one ‘Papa’ to help him look for a truck to convey furniture woods valued at about N5m from Mushin, Lagos to a customer in Benue State, Nigeria.

The said Papa was alleged to have contacted Taiwo Salami aka Ijoba who provided a truck with Number Plate WAS 633 XY to load the goods.

The goods was supposed to be delivered within two days.

The police alleged that after the driver, identified as Segun now on the run loaded the goods and en-route Benue State, Ijoba allegedly directed the driver to drive the truck to Ogbere area of Olorunsogo, Ibadan, and park the truck to enable them offload the goods for a buyer for N3m.

A police source said that Ijoba and his accomplices lodged at a hotel in the area where they waited for the supposed buyer to pay them the N3m for the stolen goods.

The police further alleged that nemesis however caught up with the suspects when the complainant reported to the DCP in charge FSARS, Lagos, Mr Ibrahim Kaoje that he entrusted goods to a driver to deliver to a customer in Benue State, but that he had disappeared with the goods.

Following the reports, Kaoje directed a team led by DSP Olaniyi Festus to fish out the driver and recover the goods

Detectives located the truck with the goods parked at Ogbere area of Olorunsogo following a tip off.

The police swooped on the suspects who allegedly diverted the goods at a hotel in Olorunsogo, following intelligence gathering and took them with the goods to the station while the driver managed to escaped.

During investigation, according to the police, all the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime.

A police source said that the suspects would be charge to court after conclusion of investigation.
