Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer had supported more than 1,800 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno, Alhaji Ba-zanna Abdulkareem, the Special Assistance to Gov. Kashim Shettima on Special Duties said.
Abdulkareem told newsmen in Maiduguri on Thursday that the beneficiaries were selected from various IDPs camps in Maiduguri.
He said government had been paying N5,000 monthly stipend to deserving families, mostly displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency.
He explained that the scheme was executed under National Social Safety Net programme,
designed to reduce poverty, provide job opportunities and enhance wealth creation in the society.

He added that “the scheme, initiated by Federal Government, pays N5,000 monthly allowances to each of the over 1,800 registered displaced persons in the past 12 months.
“Effective measures are also put in place to expand the scope of the programme to enhance participation.”
The special assistant disclosed that about 54,000 poor and vulnerable households would be captured in the ongoing social register exercise in nine local government councils of the state.
According to him, more than 4,000 youths and women have also been enrolled in Federal Government’s N-Power programme in the state.
