Operators of Babs Animashaun Mechanic Village in Surulere area of Lagos have made a passionate appeal on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to intervene in what they described as the invasion of their premises by land-grabbers.

They said the land-grabbers with the assistance of men of the Lagos State Task Force have demolished some structures in the V illage and ordered them to vacate the area unfailingly by Monday.

The General Secretary of Babs Animashaun Mechanic Village, Akinwale Taokeek in an interview wondered why some people under the guise of land-grabbers will invade the place from Ogun State.

He also expressed worry over arbitrary arrest of over forty innocent people in the Mechanic Village.

According to Taokeek, the area in question was awarded to them by the former Governor of the state, Lateef Jakande in 1982 among 210 others approved at the time.

He said failure of the state government to intervene would lead to job loss by over six thousand people.
