The vigilante security men attached to the Igbosere Magistrates Court on Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Friday arrested two suspected thieves who came to the Court in a tricycle to steal the books supplied to the court by the Ministry of Justice.

Though details of the incident were still as at press time, a security source told PM NEWS that the arrest of the suspects was made possible by the three security men on duty, identified as Peter Odey, Abiodun Adedeji and Abba Musa.

The source said that the security men swooped on the suspects while they were loading the books inside their tricycle.

Following the development, the security men sent a distress call to the police at the Lion Building.

The police stormed the scene to arrest the suspects and took them to the station along with their tricycle loaded with the stolen books.

The source further alleged that the Chief Security Supervisor attached to the Court, who managed to escaped from the scene of the incident by scaling the fence allegedly recruited the suspects to help him steal the books belonging to his employer.

When PM NEWS reporter visited the Lion Building Division to see the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge, CSP Folashade Tanaruno for comments on the incident, she was said to have gone to a meeting, but a police source confirmed the incident and said that the arrested suspects were in detention.

The source added that the police had launched a manhunt for the fleeing Chief Security Supervisor at the Court alleged to have masterminded the theft.

The source the suspects would be charge to court after investigation of the matter.
