The Secretary of the Nigeria Traditional Boxing Premier League, Ahmed Jada, on Thursday, disclosed that Kaduna State would host the third edition of the traditional boxing tournament in November.

Jada told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the tournament would hold in Yandoya in Kaduna State from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5.

He said that the competition was the third phase of the league for the 2017/ 2018 season.

“The first phase was held in Kastina State in August, Ogun hosted the second phase two weeks ago and now Kaduna State is set to host the third phase.

“Kano won the trophy in the second phase by defeating the hosting state; Ogun, with nine points.

“Katsina ended up with second position; having seven points while Nasarawa State took the third place with six points.

“Kebbi and Niger had been disqualified from the league because they both had zero point,” he said.

He explained that the league started with eight states: Katsina, Niger, Kano, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, FCT and the host, Ogun.

Jada said the Federation was planning to organise competitions in the South -East and the North Central.

“We want the game to be popular in the six geo-political zones; this is the best way to create awareness and to propagate the game in the country,’’ he said.
