Katsina State Government has spent more than N2 billion in the last two years linking towns and villages to the national grid.
Mr Abdulllahi Tanwa, General Manager, State Rural Electrification Board, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina.
Tanwa said that the amount was spent between 2015 to date, adding that the move was to boost economic activities in rural areas of the state.
He listed some of the villages linked with electricity to include Kadobi, Fadiguje, Chediyai Tara, Kaguwa, Tamu and Langasau.
Others include Saka, Yarshingi, Makaraular makafi, Shola, Lanbon Danlawan, Bakiyawa, Yau Gamma, Yarmudi, and Dankago.

The general manager explained that the board had also provided new transformers to communities to improve supply of electricity in their areas.
“We also undertook repairs of damaged transformers, provided new ones and connected communities with transmission lines.”
The official expressed concern over rampant vandalism of electrical installations in several villages and towns, describing it as a serious setback.
The general manager, however, said the board was working with communities to address the problem.
