The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare ll, has admonished medical doctors and other health workers across the country to take urgent steps to check their incessant strike ravaging the nation’s health sector.

The Monarch gave the admonition on Thursday in Benin, while playing host to the management team of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), led by its newly appointed Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Dr. Darlington Obaseki.

He noted that many lives which could have otherwise been saved, were tragically lost, due to the ceaseless strikes in Nigerian hospitals.

He also tasked Dr. Obaseki to strive to revamp all the departments of the Hospital better than his predecessors for the benefit of all.

Earlier, the new UBTH, Dr. Obaseki, told Oba Ewuare that he was at the palace to formerly inform him of his appointment as the new CMD of the Hospital, as well as seek for royal blessings.
