Jigawa Environmental Protection Agency Trains 283 Health Officers

Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) said 283 public health officers have been trained on general practices and effective service delivery.

The Acting Managing Director of the agency, Alhaji Umar Amadu, said this on Thursday in Dutse.

The Jigawa government recently recruited 450 newly health workers in the state, including senior and junior community health extension workers, medical lab technicians and their assistants, as well as environmental health workers.

Amadu said the beneficiaries were recently posted to the agency, hence the need to train them on the general practice of environmental health.

He added that the exercise was also to acquaint the participants with rules and regulations governing the conduct of public health.

The executive secretary further said they were also exposed to public health law that would guide their conduct while on job.

“It was on-the-job training, which included general practice of the their job, how ensure the environmental health in boarding schools, high institutions and other places they may be posted to.

“They were also trained on environmental public health law, that is how to conduct themselves while on duty, how to dress and also how deal with members of the public.

“Again, they were also trained on how to write report of environmental inspection and steps to be taken before taking defaulters to court over sanitation matters.

“They were also trained on how well to relate with community leaders for them to succeed in their environmental sanitation inspections in their respective places of posting.

He said the training was conducted in the five zonal offices of the agency including Dutse, Ringim, Hadejia, Gumel and Kazaure.
