Three security guards, who allegedly stole their employer’s tiles valued at N150,000, were on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused — Abiola Adesokan, 35; Romanus Onigar,35; and Paul Odingbe,28 — who reside in Isheri, Akute and Ojodu-Berger areas of Lagos, are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.

The trio, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Awase, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 30 in Ikeja.

He alleged that the accused conspired and stole 36 pieces of tiles valued at N150,000, belonging to their employer, Adron Homes and Property Ltd.

Awase told the court that another employee sighted the accused as they were loading the tiles into a vehicle at the close of work and driving off with the goods.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).

The Magistrate, Mr J.A. Adigun, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety each in like sum.

Adigun said the sureties, who must be gainfully employed, should show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government and adjourned the case to Aug. 30 for mention.
