The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging the State Government to upgrade and equip two clinics with modern facilities in Takai Local Government Area of the state.

The house passed the resolution following a motion sponsored by a member representing Takai state constituency, Alhaji Musa Kachako (APC), during plenary on Wednesday.

Kachako said that the NYSC Clinic in Takai should be upgraded to a general hospital and the clinic in Kachako be upgraded to primary health care centre.

According to him, the two hospitals will improve healthcare delivery services to the people in the area and neighbouring states like Jigawa and Bauchi, if upgraded.

He noted that the two facilities have the capacity and structure required for the upgrade, but that manpower and financial support were lacking.

The lawmaker said the people of the area were in need of health facilities judging by their population.

“Whenever we have any emergency health issues, especially women during labour, we find it difficult because of the absence of adequate health facilities in the two hospitals. Therefore the women suffer more due to this condition.

“We have to travel to the city or even to other general hospitals in our neighbouring states for medical attention,’’ he said.

The house unanimously adopted the motion after an extensive debate, calling on the state government to address the plight of the constituency.
