Premier League champion, Chelsea lost its opening day fixture to Burnley 3-2 at home after Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were sent off in the game.

Captain Cahill was sent off just 14 minutes into the game as Burnley went on rampage, scoring three goals in the first half.

Goal from Sam Vokes in the 24th minute of the match gave burnley the lead.

Stephen Ward scored the second goal for Burnley on 39th minute of the first half to make it 2-0 for the visitors.

Sam Vokes scored his second goal to make it 3-0 for the visitors in the 43rd minute.

Chelsea brought in Alvaro Morata in the second half and it paid off as the Spaniad got his first goal for the club to make it 3-1 in the 69th minute of the game.

A second yellow card for Cesc Fabregas in the 81st minute of the game led to his being sent off.

Nine-man Chelsea fought gallantly to reduce the tally and it paid off as David Luiz scored the second goal for Chelsea to make it 3-2.
