The Enugu Coalition of Business and Professional Association (ECOBPA) says its partnership with the state government to improve Ease-of-Doing-Business is meant to remove all bottleneck to business growth.
ECOBPA, formed in 2009, consists of 32 business and professional associations.
The Chairman of ECOBPA, Rev. Ugochukwu Chime, told NAN in Enugu on Thursday that it had become imperative that the coalition must synergise with the state government to bring a win-win situation in the business environment.
He stressed that the coalition had been working with the government on business data generation, tax streamlining and easy access to land for commercial and business purposes.
The chairman said that apart from these specific issues, the coalition had developed a robust and documented business advocacy programme, tagged “State Business Agenda (SBA)’’, meant to act as a catalyst for business and investment growth.

“The SBA document is a culmination of seven identified business issues of which survey/research were conducted, analysed, policy brief generated and recommendations put forward all aimed at tackling the inhibiting elements in our business environment.
`Ìf addressed, it would go a long way to facilitate investment inflow, enhance the operations of the already existing businesses and boost the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
“This document had been distributed to the key government agencies and ministries as well as other critical stakeholders,’’ he said.
Chime said that over the eight years existence of the coalition, it had made useful impact in partnering with the government in building confidence for business operators and encouraging investors to come and invest in the state.
NAN recalls that ECOBPA is a coalition platform for business operators and professional associations to dialogue and partner with the state government for the improvement of Enugu State business environment.
It is also designed to enrich the economic landscape for a win-win situation for all stakeholders.
