The Adamawa State Government on Wednesday approved N300 million for dam construction in Nasarawo, in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

Alhaji Rufa’i Ahmed, Commissioner for Water Resources, made this known while briefing newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting in Yola.

Ahmed said that the dam, when constructed, would end the problem of water supply as well as enhance irrigation activities in the area.

He said that the construction would commence as soon as the money was released.

Alhaji Hassan Pakka, Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure also announced that the council approved electrification of some rural communities in the state.

Pakka said that the electrification was not just for beautification but for security purpose.

He said that the benefiting communities were devastated by the insurgency, adding that the electrification would go a long way in rehabilitation of the rural communities.

Alhaji Ahmadu Waziri, Commissioner for Agriculture, said that the council also approved N70 million to upgrade physical infrastructure in the Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Ganye.

Waziri said that part of the funds would be utilised for the rehabilitation of some dilapidated classrooms and laboratories as part of the requirement for the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation.

He recalled that Gov. Mohammed Bindow, had earlier promised to renovate the college.

The commissioner said that the ministry had already completed the procurement process and was about to access the funds.

He said that the NBTE would be invited for the accreditation upon the completion of the renovation works.
