A gang of kidnappers operating in the Elibrada axis of the East West road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday hijacked an inter-state commuter bus carrying 15 passengers.
The identity of the passengers and their whereabouts are still unknown as at the time of filing this report.
Sources said the commercial bus belonged to ‘God is Good’ Motors,’ and was on its way out of Rivers State when it was ambushed.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Rivers State Police Command on the incident proved furtile as the telephone number of DSP Nnamdi Omoni, the command’s Public Relations Officer was switched off. An SMS sent to him was also not replied.
Hijacking of passenger buses by kidnappers for ransom along the East-West road in Emohua Local Government Area and Elele axis in Ikwerre has been a regular occurrence.
