The Lagos State Government on Saturday recorded a total of 144,275 pupils in this year’s Placement Test for Primary 6 Pupils into the State public Junior Secondary Schools.
A breakdown of the figure shows that 91,500 pupils from the State public Primary Schools and 52,775 pupils from the private schools took part in the test.
Monitoring the exercise, the State Universal Basic Education Board Executive Chairman, Dr Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin noted that there was a lot of improvement in this year’s exercise.
According to him, this year’s answer scripts known as the OMR sheets were customised in the names of all the pupils that took part in the test.
He added that a new dimension would be added in next year’s Placement Test, disclosing that exams identification sheets for pupils that would take part in the test was being worked on.
He decried the situation whereby parents and guardians looked for pupils centres on the test day, stressing that this attitude was particularly common with pupils from private schools.
He scored the performance of all stakeholders that took part in the test 99% as challenges were quickly and easily addressed.
He stated that the State Government would not relent in its efforts to provide qualitative and quantitative education in the state.
