Igbonla students: Lagos lawmaker congratulates parents

A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Segun Olulade, has congratulated parents of the six abducted pupils of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla-Epe on the release of their children by their abductors.

The pupils, who were kidnapped 64 days ago in their school premises, regained their freedom on Friday.

The abducted students were released in Ondo State.

Olulade, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency II rejoiced with the parents of the affected students in a statement he signed.

The lawmaker, who expressed delight over the release of pupils, commended parents of the pupils for their understanding and cooperation with the state government and the security agencies during the period the pupils were in the den of the kidnappers.

He described the release of the students as the best news he had received this year.

“Every morning when I wake up, my mind will always go to these kids and I will always tell God to bring them home safely to us very soon.

“Here we are today; they have been released finally after 64 days in captivity. I don’t even know what to say or how best to thank God but I must say that I am very happy and I rejoice with their parents.

“I also want to commend the state government ably led by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for its efforts since the first day these students were kidnapped.

“I also applaud the security agencies for their efforts at ensuring the release of the students,” Olulade, the Chairman, House Committee on Health Services said.

The lawmaker said that the state government would not relent in its efforts at ensuring the protection of all residents.

“We must all cooperate with the government and the police by raising alarm whenever we notice any strange faces within our environment.

“It is true that the security of lives and property of the citizens is the sole responsibility of the government.

“I believe that we as citizens also have some roles to play when it comes to securing our environment,” Olulade said.
